The primary goal of EOC site selection is to provide a safe and operational effective area for the emergency management staff to carry out their duties and responsibilities. The following factors have been considered in EOC site selection: Remote site to provide adequate, convenient, and quick access to the building during an emergency crisis. Locate the EOC outside of terminal building makes it less complicated to escort non-badged personnel. Locate the EOC in an area that avoids long routes around the airfield system from the point of entry. Locate the EOC far enough away from the airport perimeter fence to meet security stand-off guidelines & mitigate the effects of potential threats or attacks against the facility.
